About us
Our Ethos
We are ambitious for every child we teach and want to see a society that benefits from the contributions of our well-educated and empowered young people who come through our network of high-performing non-faith academies. We make a difference to young lives by being that difference and defying the disadvantage we see.

Music At DIXONS
In 2012, we opened Dixons Music Primary, a school that is dedicated to using music education to raise standards of student achievement, self-discipline and oracy. At this academy, singing is used to develop oracy, performance is used to develop confidence and character. Every student is encouraged to learn an instrument and this is a fundamental element of learning at the school. This unique character has helped to shape the development of the whole child and combines traditional learning, with holistic methods that are both engaging and effective.

OUR TEAM
TRINITY ROCK AND POP
We have recently started a collaboration with Trinity Rock and Pop (Trinity College London). Their National Advisor recently described our music program as “pioneering” and we will be working closely with them in a national pilot scheme embedding Trinity Rock and Pop resources within our curriculum and instrumental lessons.

KEY STAGE 2 CURRICULUM
Students in KS2 follow a bespoke curriculum, developing listening, performing and composing skills. Students learn about music through time, from Baroque to Modern and 50’s Rock and Roll to Contemporary Pop. Students develop vocal techniques, keyboard and ukulele skills, all whilst developing their musical vocabulary and notation reading skills. Colour coded worksheets allow students to autonomously progress between tasks, and video tutorials support instrumental techniques.
